Incident Details Emerge
San Jose Police Department (SJPD) officers were dispatched to a residence on the 200 block of Chynoweth Avenue just before 12:30 a.m. following multiple 911 calls reporting the sounds of gunshots and a woman screaming for help. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a grim scene that unfolded rapidly and tragically.
A woman was found outside the residence suffering from at least one gunshot wound. She was immediately transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead from her injuries. Inside the home, officers located a second female victim and an adult male victim, both of whom had also sustained gunshot wounds. The woman found inside was pronounced dead at the scene, while the man, despite receiving medical attention, succumbed to his wounds at the hospital. These events represent homicides 19, 20, and 21 for San Jose in 2025.
Ongoing Investigation and Suspect Search
The suspect, described as unidentified, managed to escape the premises before the arrival of law enforcement. While the investigation is in its early stages, police spokesperson Stacie Shih stated that the incident is believed to be isolated, and there is currently no apparent threat to the broader public.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the three victims, pending notification of their next of kin by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office. The motive behind the shooting remains undisclosed as investigators work to piece together the events of that night.
